Sarah leaned back in her high-back, leather chair in the darkened Operations Room with a satisfied smile on her face, laced her hands together behind her head. Scanned the video monitors on the wall in front of her showing helmet cam viewpoints from the soldiers as they returned to the base. Sweat stains under her arms were the only sign of her intense concentration during the operation. But it couldn’t have gone more smoothly, in her opinion at least. She smiled tentatively. About to stand up, she thought better of it and reopened her comm channel.
“Keep monitoring all comm bands for all responses.” Dropping her hands from behind her head, a quick finger-point gesture sent the order.
She knew her communications team didn’t need the instruction, but she felt better giving it.
“Feeling pretty good?” asked Gwinnett standing behind her, hands in his pockets.
